For those who want to explore the Peak District National Park, Bakewell is the ideal starting point. Alton Towers, the UK's most popular theme park, is just a short drive away from the rugged Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak. Stately homes such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall are just a few of the many that can be visited, as are the impressive caverns in nearby Castleton and the resting place of Little John in Hathersage.
